King Charles likes to visit India ‘at the earliest opportunity’: Report

King Charles III has expressed a desire to visit India "at the earliest opportunity," saida well-known British Indian businessman.

Lord Karan Bilimoria, who met the King at a reception in parliament prior to Saturday's coronation ceremony, stated that the king "genuinely" wishes to make a state visit to India, which he "loves" and where "he has many friends."

As the Prince of Wales, the head of the Commonwealth of Nations visited the South Asian nation ten times and professed his profound admiration for Indian customs like yoga.

On his most recent trip to India in 2019, he joined schoolchildren in Mumbai to celebrate his 71st birthday.

Charles once remarked that India's "extraordinary diversity" and "deep well of creativity, ingenuity, and resilience" had always astounded him and had personally inspired him.

Through the British Asian Trust he founded in 2007, he has also assisted communities in south Asia, including India.


Speaking with the King on the significance of a state visit to the nation, Lord Bilimoria, who recently led a UK parliamentary delegation to India, told The Telegraph that the King "said he'd love to go there soon."

The approaching royal event has prevented the royal family from engaging in a new diplomatic spat with India because Queen Consort Camilla has chosen to wear Queen Mary's crown, which has been reset with Cullinan diamonds, rather than the Kohinoor diamond.

India is the country of origin of the contentious Kohinoor diamond, whose ownership has been in question.
