The 'Adhai Din Ka Jhopara', which is located in Ajmer, Rajasthan, it is not a hut but a mosque, which is hundreds of years old. It is one of the oldest mosques in India and is also the oldest monument of Ajmer. Now you must be wondering why the name of this mosque is named as 'Adhai Din Ka Jhopara'. Let's know about its history, which is about 800 years old. 'Adhai Din Ka Jhopara' was built in 1192 AD by Qutubuddin Aibak on the orders of Afghan commander Mohammad Ghori. There was a very large Sanskrit school and temple at this place which was broken into a mosque. There is also an inscription made of marble on the left side of the main gate of the two and a half day hut, on which the school is mentioned in Sanskrit.

There are a total of 70 pillars in this mosque. These pillars belong to the temples which were demolished, but the pillars were allowed to remain the same. The height of these pillars is about 25 feet and each pillar is beautifully carved. In the 90s, many ancient idols were scattered here, which were later preserved. Due to the temple being more than half of the hut of two and a half days, it looks like a temple rather than a mosque from inside. Although the new walls have been built, the Quranic verses have been written on them, which shows that it is a mosque.

It is also believed that the construction of this mosque took two and a half days i.e. only 60 hours, hence it came to be known as 'Adhai Din Ka Jhopara'. However, some people also believe that due to the two and a half day Urs (fair) that went on here, it was named 'Adhai Din Ka Jhopara'.
