The Indian tricolour flag will be hoisted for the first time on August 15 this year at the Times Square in New York City, USA. The tricolour flag will be waved like the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), an organization of Indians living in the US.

The organization issued this statement. Consul General of India in New York, Randhir Jaiswal will be the chief guest on the occasion. The FIA has said that with the hoisting of the tricolour at Times Square, this time also on August 14, like every year the Empire State Building will be illuminated with orange, white and green lights. The organization said that hoisting the tricolour flag on Times Square is a symbol of the growing relations of the Indian-American community. The Federation of Indian Associations is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year. The FIA, one of the largest migrant organizations, was established in the year 1970.

Ramesh Patel, who was the head of the Indian-American community, died of Coronavirus, after which Ankur Vaidya was appointed as the President of FIA. 40-year-old Vaidya has been associated with FIA for a long time. And was also the President of Overseas Organization since 2014. Vaidya has become the youngest member of the board and has also become the youngest chairman. The Consulate General of the country in New York will host a Virtual Independence Day program on August 15. The event will be broadcast live. Members of the Indian community, as well some Indias, have been invited for this.
