India Junior Women National Championship 2021 was schedule with great excitement to held this year but get postponed due to increases number of cases of COVID 19. Yes, let us share in brief that the 11th edition of the Hockey championship was scheduled to begin on April 3 but now has been postponed due to a rise of COVID-19 cases in the players’ camp. Five members of the team from Chandigarh on the tour of Jharkhand have tested positive for COVID-19.
For your information let us share that the District Commissioner of Simdega, in Jharkhand, intimated instructions and protocols following which the state authorities reached the decision to postpone the National Championship during a brief virtual meeting with the organisers from Hockey Jharkhand. The eleventh edition of the junior hockey championship, which was originally scheduled to be held from 3 April to 12 April 2021, involved 26 teams from across India.
However, here it is needed to mention that Hockey Jharkhand received tremendous support from the State Government to host the recently concluded 11th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2021, however, with new protocols and guidelines in the state to combat the rapid rise of cases, it was in the best interest of the players that this decision was taken.
