Earlier this month, Surender Kumar, who turned out to be corona positive with 5 players of the men's hockey team, has been re-admitted to the hospital due to venous thrombosis (VT). Captain Manpreet Singh, Jaskaran Singh, Varun Kumar, goalkeeper Krishna Bahadur Pathak along with Surender were discharged from SS Sparsh Hospital in Bengaluru on Monday.

According to the statement issued by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), "Surender was admitted to the hospital again on Thursday evening due to blood clotting in his hand." The statement read, "Due to V.T. Blood has frozen in the upper part of the right hand and because of this, he has been admitted to the hospital for 2-3 days. During this time, he will be treated to recover from VT. "

In this statement, it is further written that "SAIs officers spoke to the doctor treating him  through a conference call who told that Surender's condition is stable and there is no need to worry at the moment." 5 other players were turned out to be Covid-19 positive, they are currently in the quarantine.
