Mankachar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today visited the Mankachar area of Assam to assess the situation along the Assam-Bangladesh border.
Shah, who had arrived by chopper at the Kamakhya Hilltop earlier in the day, offered prayers at the temple there before departing for Mankachar. At the border outpost, officials from the Border Security Force (BSF) and the State Government greeted the Home Minister.
From an observation tower set up for the event, Shah and BSF officers examined the border situation. He was also seen conversing with local villagers. A flag march was conducted by the BSF personnel of both India and Bangladesh in the presence of the Amit Shash.
At the Sadartilla camp, Shah is expected to discuss infiltration, cattle smuggling, boundary fencing, and river patrolling with senior BSF officials, according to paramilitary sources.
On May 9 and 10, 2022, the Home Minister, who is in Assam for a two-day visit, will attend a number of events.
