New Delhi: On August 31, the final list of NRC was released in Assam. About 19 lakh people did not find a place in this list. Only after coming out of this list did despair spread to those whose name was missing in it. No political party also agrees with this list. In view of the problem of the people, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a big statement. The ministry said that even the government will provide legal assistance to those in need, whose names are missing from the final list of National Register of Citizens released on 31 August.

The ministry spokesperson tweeted, "The state government has made necessary arrangements to provide all kinds of assistance through the District Legal Services Authority to provide legal aid to the needy among those included in the final list of NRC." In another tweet, he said that the person whose name has been excluded from the NRC list will not be detained by the authorities."

The tweet states that those who are not included in the list can challenge if their names do not appear in the list using the remedial measures provided. The ministry said that a tribunal of 200 new foreigners already working in different parts of Assam will be opened to hear the appeal of the people. Another tweet stated that adequate judicial process is available for affected individuals to appeal to the Foreigners' Tribunal within 120 days from August 8. To facilitate the appeal, 200 new FTs will operate from Monday. Significantly, the voices of strong opposition in Assam BJP have started coming up on this list.
