Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has once again targeted the 350cc segment, a popular category in the Indian market. The company has launched its new model, the Honda CB350, officially named 'CB350.' In contrast to previous models like Highness or RS, Honda has opted for a simpler naming approach.
In the current Indian market, nearly every two-wheeler manufacturer has set its sights on the 350cc segment. While Royal Enfield dominates this segment with an 80% market share, Honda is gearing up to make its mark with the new Honda CB350. The bike is available in two variants: the base model Honda CB 350 Deluxe, priced at INR 1,99,900, and the Deluxe Pro model, priced at INR 2,17,800 (ex-showroom). Honda has strategically positioned the CB350 with competitive pricing in comparison to its rivals.
Customers can book the bike through the company's BigWing dealership network, and deliveries are expected to commence shortly.
Key Features of the Honda CB350:
Design:
The all-new CB350 features a retro-modern look, inspired by Honda's previous CB series models. It boasts a muscular fuel tank, stylish all-LED lighting system, round-shaped LED headlamp, LED winkers, and LED tail lamp. The bike is offered in five colors: Precious Red Metallic, Pearl Ignition Black, Matte Marshal Green Metallic, Matte Crypton Brown, and Matte Crust Metallic.
Engine and Performance:
The CB350 is powered by a 348.36cc single-cylinder engine, generating a maximum power of 20.8 bhp at 5500 RPM and a peak torque of 29.4 Nm at 3000 RPM. It comes with a 5-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. Honda has focused on improving the exhaust note for a better riding experience.
Special Features:
The top-spec DLX Pro variant comes equipped with Bluetooth support and Honda Smartphone Voice Control System (HSVCS), Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC, essentially traction control), dual-channel ABS, and 18-inch wheels, among other advanced features. The bike also features LED lighting, semi-digital instrumentation, and a double-layer exhaust.
Comparison with Royal Enfield Classic 350:
The Honda CB350 is set to compete directly with the leader in the segment, the Royal Enfield Classic 350. It will be interesting to see how the CB350 stacks up against the Classic 350, which has an initial price of INR 1.93 lakh, going up to INR 2.25 lakh for the top variant. Both bikes have similar power outputs, making the competition fierce in this segment.
In conclusion, Honda's CB350 aims to capture a significant share of the 350cc segment with its attractive design, competitive pricing, and a range of features. The market will closely watch the battle between the Honda CB350 and the Royal Enfield Classic 350, anticipating a shift in the dynamics of the retro-classic motorcycle segment.
