Thousands of people gathered in Central Park in Hong Kong on Thursday to remember the day six months before their movement turned into a violent form. The sober people recalled the day of June 12, when they had a confrontation with the police for the first time during the road blockade and rubber bullets and tear gas shells were fired upon them. The movement began with the China-backed Hong Kong government taking an extradition treaty with China. A few weeks later, the movement turned into a demand for democracy and now the slogan of independence from China is being raised. On Thursday, those agitators who were lost in these six months were also remembered. Thousands of people paid their tributes silently. Said, we can never forget them.
Addressing the gathering during the agitation, 24-year-old engineer Mark Cho said, "One million people took out a peaceful procession on June 9 to protest against the government's extradition proposal." He appealed to the government not to present this proposal in the Assembly to crush Hong Kong's democratic ethos. But the government did not listen to the appeal of one million sober people. The proposal was moved forward. This experience gave us a lesson that a peaceful movement will not work.
For your information, let us tell you that Mandi Chan, a 23-year-old teacher, remembered those who lost their lives during the movement and said, "We will never forget you." The campaign to send Christmas cards to more than six thousand arrested agitators was also announced. This process started from Thursday. In the six months of the movement, the police have arrested more than six thousand people in various cases.
