Hong Kong suspends flights from India, Pakistan

The world is experiencing spike in COVID cases after the second wave. The situation across has become very sensitive, accordingly, Hong Kong has suspended all flights connecting it with India and Pakistan.

A few days ago, reports stated that India is the second country to get worst hit by the corona in it’s second phase. Hong Kong seeing the current condition of other countries decided to cancel all the flights arriving from India from Tuesday to May 3. The aviation industry sources have said that this decision of Hong Kong had been taken as a precautionary measure. The Hong Kong government has also suspended flights to and from Pakistan as well as the Philippines for the aforementioned time period. This decision of government has come after 50 passengers tested positive of two Vistara flights. Earlier on Sunday, the Hong Kong government announced suspension of all Vistara flights on the Mumbai-Hong Kong route till May 2. 

Till now a total of 47 passengers on Vistara’s Delhi-Hong Kong flight of April 4 have tested positive for COVID. Vistara’s flights on Delhi-Hong Kong route had earlier been banned from April 6 to April 19. Latest report states that India’s case tally to 1,47,88,109, while active cases have surpassed the 18-lakh mark, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
