Mumbai: A day after Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad announced 300 flats for MLAs in Mumbai, Maharashtra, BJP MLA Ram Kadam said that flats should be given to the widows of army soldiers and frontline workers. BJP also alleged that these houses are being given to MLA because MVA (Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi) fears that they will defect to join BJP.

Along with this, Ram Kadam said, "We are not against the houses given to the MLAs, but they should give priority to the widows of army soldiers and frontline workers who lost their lives due to the epidemic. These persons should be given free first. The house should be given. The government has tried to defame the MLAs by announcing this scheme. This scheme should be named after housing minister Jitendra Ahwad. It is a move by the MVA to keep their flock together."

Responding to these allegations, Jitendra Awhad said that these flats are not free and will not be given to the MLA of Mumbai. "MLAs from Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) will not be eligible for these apartments and only those MLAs who do not have a house in Mumbai will be able to avail it. There are many people like artists, journalists and others who have received flats. This is not a new announcement from my side. MVA has the right to announce such decisions. Ram Kadam tell your BJP MLAs not to apply for these houses. The minimum amount for these houses is 70 lakh to 1 between crores."
