Houthi Vows to Continue Targeting Israel-Bound Ships After US-UK Airstrikes in Yemen

A spokesperson for Yemen's Houthi rebels has announced the continuation of targeting ships en route to Israel, following a series of intense airstrikes by a coalition led by the United States and supported by the United Kingdom in Yemen. The Houthi representative emphasized that there is no justification for the US-UK attack on Yemen.

The recent assault by the US and UK, which targeted an airbase, airports, and a military camp, occurred in the aftermath of alleged disruptive attacks by Houthi rebels on the Red Sea, causing damage to commercial shipping along the trade route.

Hussein Al-Ezzi, Houthi Deputy Foreign Minister, condemned the aggressive attack, stating, "Our country faced a massive assault by American and British ships, submarines, and warplanes." He warned that the United States and Britain must be prepared to bear the heavy consequences of this blatant aggression.

Reports indicate that the airstrikes struck the capital city Sanaa, as well as Hodeida and Saada. The escalation in the crisis in the oil-rich Middle East follows Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea, with the rebels claiming their actions are in defense of Palestinians in Gaza against Israel. However, it has been observed that many of the targeted ships had tenuous or no direct connection to Israel.

In response to Houthi rebels, US and British forces reportedly thwarted 18 drones and three missiles in the Red Sea this week, labeling the incident a "complex Iranian-designed" attack.
