An avian flu outbreak has been reported in a poultry farm in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand, prompting an alert from the state government. According to officials, the outbreak occurred at the Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, a poultry farm run by Ram Krishna Ashram in Morabadi. The affected farm saw the culling of 920 birds, which included 770 ducks, and the destruction of 4,300 eggs.

Samples from the farm tested positive for H5N1, a strain of avian influenza A virus, according to the Jharkhand government official. The samples were sent to the ICAR-National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD) in Bhopal for confirmation.

The outbreak has raised concerns among local authorities, who are monitoring the situation closely to prevent the virus from spreading further.
