New Delhi: Vangipurappu Venkata Sai Laxman i.e. 'VVS Laxman' was born on November 1, 1974, in Hyderabad. He is also fondly called 'very very special Laxman' by the fans. And why not say so because he had done such a feat, which even big players fail to do. In the world of cricket, VVS Laxman is remembered for his excellent innings of 281 runs played in Kolkata. 

Today is the birthday of the same Team India former stylish batsman VVS Laxman. Laxman is considered a specialist batsman in Test cricket. Laxman was nicknamed 'very very special Laxman' by Australian great Ian Chappell after his consistent performance in the 2003-2004 ODI series against Australia. Laxman played many such innings in his cricket career, which led Team India to victory.

Laxman scored 494 runs in the first 4 test match series with the help of two centuries. Laxman made his debut in the cricket world with Test cricket in the year 1996 against South Africa. Laxman is also considered the troubleshooter of cricket. Especially he is also known for his brilliant innings played against Australia. Laxman played a brilliant inning of 281 runs against Australia in March 2001 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Till now Laxman has played 134 Test matches for India in which he has scored 8,781 runs. During this, Laxman has also scored 17 centuries and 56 half-centuries. The special thing is that out of these, 6 out of 17 Test centuries and 4 out of 6 ODI centuries are against Australia only.

After the god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar, Laxman is the only batsman who has scored 2,000 runs against Australia. Many times in Test matches, Laxman has given India victory by playing the best innings. Laxman is a stylish right-handed batsman and has played 86 ODIs and scored 2,338 runs. Laxman has also scored 6 centuries in ODI matches.
