The persistent cold conditions in Delhi have kept residents bundled up for the seventh consecutive day. The city recorded a temperature of 3.5 degrees Celsius, well below the normal range. With a relative humidity of 91% at 9:05 a.m., Delhiites are experiencing chilly mornings and low visibility due to the lingering fog.

Adding to the challenges, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of the city continues to dwell in the "very poor" category. At 9 a.m., the AQI recorded a reading of 373, reflecting the concerning air quality levels. The overall AQI on Tuesday stood at 371 at 4 p.m., indicating a persistent issue with air pollution in the national capital.

As north India braces for more days of dense fog and cold-wave conditions, authorities are working on multiple fronts to manage the disruptions caused by the weather. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's assurance that efforts are underway to minimize fog-related disruptions reflects the urgency of the situation.

The India Meteorological Department's warning about the likelihood of dense fog conditions for the next five days underscores the need for residents to exercise caution during travel. The advisory to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautions while driving aims to ensure public safety amid challenging weather conditions.

In the meantime, the Delhi airport has been advised to expedite the operationalization of the CAT III-enabled fourth runway, emphasizing the importance of adapting to low-visibility flight operations. These measures are crucial in mitigating the impact of the season's worst fog on transportation and ensuring the well-being of the public.

As the nation copes with the winter weather, the focus remains on navigating the challenges posed by fog and cold-wave conditions. The coming days will test the resilience of transportation systems and individuals alike, as they adapt to the persistent weather patterns affecting northern India.
