New Delhi: On November 19, 1917, a girl was born to the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, named Indira Priyadarshini Nehru. But, very few people know the story behind how Indira Priyadarshini Nehru later became 'Maimuna Begum' and then Indira Gandhi. So let's know some important facts related to the country's first woman PM Indira Gandhi today on her birth anniversary.

Hindustan is in our possession:-

Congress veteran and former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh made a sensational revelation in this regard in his book "Profile and Letters" (ISBN: 8129102358). Natwar Singh writes, "I was in Afghanistan with Maimuna Begum alias Indira Gandhi. At night, Indira expressed her desire to go to Babur's grave, so I reached the grave with her. I saw Indira Gandhi saying there that we are your heirs and even today the country is in our possession. I was shocked and stunned. It is clear from this that the brave sons like Maharana Pratap and Shivaji fought till the last breath to save India from Babur and his descendants, we handed over the command of the country to the same Mughals after independence.''

Expelled from the university due to bad behavior:-

Jawaharlal Nehru sent Indira Gandhi to study at Oxford University with great expectations so that she could do some good to the country by reading and writing. But in a short time, Indira was expelled from the university due to poor performance. Due to this, Nehru admitted her to Rabindranath Tagore's 'Santiniketan', but would you call it a coincidence that Tagore also expelled Indira from Santiniketan because of 'bad conduct'. So can the conduct of Indira Gandhi, who could not complete her studies from anywhere, be worth becoming the Prime Minister of the country?

Countless illicit relationships:-

It is said that Rabindranath Tagore came to know about Indira Gandhi's love affair, so he decided to expel Indira thinking that the atmosphere of Santiniketan should not deteriorate. In her book "The Life of Indira Nehru Gandhi", Catherine Frank highlights many of Indira Gandhi's love affairs, as well as K.N. Rao's book "Nehru Dynasty" also reveals her relationship. It is clearly written that Indira was in an illicit relationship with the German teacher in Santiniketan, perhaps because of which Tagore fired her. Later, Indira also had a relationship with her father's secretary M O Mathai, which Mathai himself revealed in his book  "Reminiscences of the Nehru Age". Along with this, Indira also had an illicit relationship with her yoga teacher Dhirendra Brahmachari and former Foreign Minister Dinesh Singh. Mathai, who was Nehru's secretary, had opened so many dark secrets of the Nehru family in his book "Reminiscences of the Nehru Age" that shortly after publication, the Congress government banned it and all the copies were confiscated. The thing to think about here is that if the king of the country is so lustful and enjoyable, then what attention will he be able to pay to the people, we have seen this example in the story of rulers like King Dhananand of Magadha.

How did she become Maimuna Begum?

After leaving Shantiniketan, Indira Gandhi's studies stopped and she came home and became completely alone. By that time Indira's mother Kamala Nehru had died and her father was busy in politics. It is said that a businessman named Feroz Khan took advantage of her loneliness who used to go to Nehru's house to deliver liquor. During this time, relations between Feroz Khan and Indira Gandhi were established. The then Governor of Maharashtra, Dr. Sriprakash, had also warned Nehru that Indira was having an illicit relationship with Feroz Khan. But Nehru, who was busy in politics and 'Advina,' could not pay attention to this and Indira went to a mosque in London and married Feroz and converted to the Muslim religion, and named herself Maimuna Begum. Although marrying Feroz and becoming a Muslim was Indira's personal issue, the countrymen were cheated for this, which was a national issue. After Indira became a Muslim, Nehru started fearing going to the post of Prime Minister, because he wanted to see Indira as the next PM. Now Nehru persuades Feroz Khan to change his surname to Gandhi and convinces him to use Gandhi instead of just surname Khan and there is no need to change religion. Both of them changed their surname and when both of them came to India, both of them were married here according to Hindu customs to fool the public. With this, Feroz Khan became Feroz Gandhi, and crores of countrymen were fooled.

1971 war and 54 Indian soldiers:-

Indira Gandhi was the prime minister of the country in 1971 when Pakistan invaded Bangladesh (then East Pakistan). Indira Gandhi is considered to have played a big role in liberating Bangladesh. But very few people would know that in this war, the Indian army arrested 93 thousand soldiers and civilians of Pakistan. Of these, the number of Pakistani soldiers was 81 thousand and the number of civilians was 12 thousand. But after this war, Indira Gandhi sent all those POWs back to Pakistan in love with Pakistan. While no agreement was made to rescue 54 Indian soldiers captured by Pakistan during this war. These 54 soldiers are still called Missing 54 in the country. Of the 54 soldiers, 30 were Army soldiers, and 24 were air force soldiers. I wish a patriot was the head of the country at that time, like 'Abhinandan', those 54 sons of Mother India would have also come back and perhaps the Kashmir problem would have been solved in lieu of releasing 93 thousand soldiers of Pakistan.
