In light of Lord Ram's consecration ceremony (Pran Pratishtha) scheduled in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, several Indian states have decided to impose a ban on the sale of liquor and meat on that day.

List of states declaring a 'dry day' on January 22:

Uttar Pradesh:
The Uttar Pradesh Excise Department has directed all liquor shops to remain closed on January 22. A notice by the UP Excise Commissioner stated that due to the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, liquor shops in the state will not operate on that day, with no compensation or claims for closure.

Uttarakhand:
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed District Magistrates to observe January 22 as a dry day. Additionally, he urged the distribution of prasad in major temples and Gurudwaras, emphasizing the inclusion of Uttarakhand millets as prasad.

Assam:
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared January 22 as a 'dry day' in the state. Big screens will be installed, and BJP workers will illuminate the market and other areas on January 21 and 22.

Chhattisgarh:
The Chhattisgarh government has decided to observe a 'dry day' on January 22. The Excise Department issued instructions, closing all liquor retail shops, restaurant bars, hotel bars, and clubs in the state. An investigation team will monitor suspicious locations and vehicles to prevent illegal liquor storage.

As preparations intensify for the Ram Temple 'Pran Pratishtha' on January 22, dignitaries and people from all walks of life are expected to attend. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust plans to enthrone Ram Lalla at the sanctum-sanctorum of the Ram Temple at noon on January 22. Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony will commence on January 16, a week before the main event. Ayodhya will celebrate the Amrit Mahotsav from January 14 to January 22 in honor of Lord Ram's birthplace.
