Story of Bakrid or its history

There is a belief behind celebrating Bakrid. It is said that Allah once tempted Hazrat Mohammad. Allah said that they would be happy only when their most closed one was sacrificed by Hazrat. Hearing this, Hazrat brought his son, Ismail to sacrifice. The time for Ismail's sacrifice was very close. With blindfolded, Hazrat sacrificed Ismail. However the very next moment he saw the scene that Allah accepted the sacrifice of his goat and not Ismail. Allah put the goat in place of Ismail. This is how Hazrat passed this test. Since then, the festival of Bakrid had started.

How does Bakrid celebrate?

- On this day, Eid Salaat is first offered in Eid Gah.
- Namaz is also performed on the day of Bakrid.
- Everyone wishes each other Eid.
- Apart from the goat, no other animal is sacrificed. However, many people sacrifice goat, cow, goat, buffalo, and camel on this day as well.
- After sacrificing the goat, it is divided into several parts. Where one-third of its meat is distributed to Allah, one-third to household members and friends and one-third to poor.
