An epidemic has become a boon for India's bicycle industry: This financial year has become the best year in terms of profits for bicycle manufacturers. There is an increased awareness among the people about their health since the arrival of the Corona epidemic. India is the second-largest bicycle market in the world. In the five financial years that have passed till 2019, bicycle sales have also registered a light compound annual growth rate of about 5 per cent.

It is not that the sale of bicycles seems to be increasing only in the organised sector. The share of unorganized companies in the total bicycle sales has gone up to one-third. All India Cycle Manufacturers Association Secretary-General KB Thakur said that in the financial year 2020-21, bicycle sales in both the organized and unorganized sectors together were more than 1.83 crore units. The figure will touch 2.2 crore units this fiscal. This will be a 20 per cent increase over the previous financial year.
