Kolkata: On the occasion of Ram Navami (March 30) in West Bengal, processions were targeted in Howrah and Islampur in Uttar Dinajpur. Incidents like violence and arson have also taken place after the stone-pelting. There was violence in Howrah on Friday, March 31 as well. Here, after the Friday prayers, the crowd pelted stones. On the other hand, Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari has filed a public interest litigation in the High Court regarding the incidents of violence in Bengal. At the same time, BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar has also written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah informing him about the violence.

Shubhendu Adhikari wrote on Twitter that 'I have filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Calcutta High Court regarding incidents of violence and attacks on Ram Navami processions in Howrah and Dalkhola, North Dinajpur. I have demanded that the court control the situation and deploy central security forces to protect the lives of innocent people, and that the NIA probe the cases of violence. In his next tweet, Majumdar said that the Acting Chief Justice has given permission to file a PIL. It has been directed to stay at the top of the list on Monday (April 3). Apart from him, Bengal BJP chief Majumdar has also written a letter to the Union Home Minister. In this too, he has asked central investigative agencies like the NIA to investigate the matter.

Let us tell you that on the second day in Bengal, there was stone-pelting and violence from the fundamentalists. On Friday, March 31, several videos of stone-pelting surfaced in Howrah. A video shows a group of people and a huge amount of bricks and stones scattered on the road. Let us tell you that on the day of Ram Navami, there was a clash between two communities in the Dalkhola area of Islampur city. After which, a person was killed in a clash in a Muslim-dominated area, while 5–6 policemen were injured. Let us tell you that the Chief Minister of the state, Mamta Banerjee, warned the Hindus before Ramnavmi that if they took rallies into Muslim areas, violence would break out; Muslims could not do anything wrong in Ramzan. After which it was believed that this statement of CM Mamta emboldened the fanatics and they attacked the Ram Navami procession.
