West Bengal-Kolkata: The Indian railways has conducted the trial run of Vande Bharat Express, India's indigenously designed semi-high-speed train, between Howrah and Puri on April 28.

Later it will also conduct a 2nd and 3rd  trial run of this train before its flagging off. On the day of the first trial run, this train is scheduled to depart from Howrah at 6.10 am and reach Puri at 12.35 pm on Friday.
The date of the Vande Bharat Express' inaugural commercial service,  has not yet been determined, railway officials said

"The semi-high-speed train is probably about to depart. For the time being, no precise date has been set for the train's commercial operations. Once the precise dates are known, all media outlets and the general public will be informed, said Aditya Choudhary, CPRO of Southern Eastern Railway.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi signalled the start of the first Vande Bharat Express of the State in December of last year, which ran from Howrah to New Jalpaiguri.

The train is likely to chug through Odisha’s tracks in early May, fow which  the railways will hold the trial runs. An empty rake of Vande Bharat Express went to Howrah on Wednesday, source said.

The third trial run will be determined on May 1 after getting updates from the Railway Board regarding the inauguration of Vande Bharat Express rake, official sources added.
