Kavita Krishnamurthy needs no introduction. She is one of the most famous singers of her time. The actress has sung from various leading ladies of the entertainment industry and become the voice of this actress. She has given some Blockbuster songs in Indian cinema. Kavita Krishnamurthy was born in a Tamil family. Her real name is  Shraddha Krishnamurthy. Kavita has sung songs of many genres ranging from film songs to ghazals, pop, and classical.  Kavitha has sung more than 50 thousand songs in 45 languages.  Kavita's father was an officer in the education department, she got her early music education from home. At the age of 8, Kavita participated in a music competition and won the gold medal.

This competition changed Kavita’s life and she started dreaming of becoming a singer. At the age of just 9, she got a chance to sing with Lata Mangeshkar and sang a Bengali song. Manna Dey heard her singing in a program and gave him a chance to sing in his advertisement. Krishnamurthy lent her voice to many songs in Sridevi's film Mr. India. Kavita Krishnamurthy lent her voice to the popular song Hawa Hawai from the film. This song made Kavita a star. She has became the voice of Sridevi and after this she was the first choice for her films.

Kavita Krishnamurthy rose to fame by singing the beautiful song 'Pyaar Hua Chupke Se' from the movie '1942: Kavita Krishnamurthy received the Filmfare Award for Best Singer four times. This award was given to Kavita for 1942 A Love Story, Yarana, Khamoshi, Devdas, in the year 2005, Kavita Krishnamurthy was awarded Padma Shri. Kavita Krishnamurthy married L Subramaniam in the year 1999.  She has sung thousands of superhit songs including Dola Re Dola Re from the film Devdas and Bole Chudiyan from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. She has also lent his voice to the popular song 'Hum Katha Sunate Prabhu Shri Ram Ki'.
