Huma Qureshi blamed ‘Patriarchy’ for stereotyping females' roles as Glamorous

Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi are all set for the release of their upcoming movie Double XL. Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi underwent a massive body transformation and had even piled on the extra pounds for their roles. Double XL will mark cricketer Shikhar Dhawan's Bollywood debut.  Recently the official trailer of Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha’ s upcoming comedy Double XL was released.  Huma Qureshi who is quite vocal about various issues during a promotional event opens up on stereotyping females.

Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi is in the lead roles and talks about the issue of body positivity and society's beauty standards. The actress speaking about stereotyping female leads said, “It's all about feeling confident and believing that one can look glamorous if one feels glamorous. Patriarchy and society conditions us into believing that a girl who weighs a certain weight is not beautiful or glamorous.”

She further  added, "It's high time we do away with these notions. Also, I felt that since I was from an industry where glamour is an essential aspect of the profession, the message coming from me might help other girls who obsess over their weight, feel differently about themselves." She further accepted that changes is happening,  "I really believe that social change happens through fun, commercial, and family entertainer films."

Double XL is helmed by Satramm Ramani. The filming now has wrapped up after a month-long schedule. It is bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, under the banner of Wakaoo Films with the collaboration of T-Series. The comedy-drama questions bodyweight stereotypes that have long been plaguing our society, in the most humorous manner. The movie is all set to hit theatre screens on October 14, 2022.
