New Delhi: Former Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani passed away on Wednesday. He was 91 years old. The administration has suspended internet services in the precautionary valley, tightening security arrangements. Inspector General of Kashmir Vijay Kumar has informed in this regard. Gilani, a resident of Bommai in Sopore, had been living in Haiderpora, the outskirts of Srinagar, for many years. He was suffering from many diseases including heart, kidney, and sugar.

Pakistani PM Imran Khan has expressed grief over Geelani's death. Imran Khan tweeted, "There will be a day's mourning in Pakistan and the flag will be half bowed. Among the strong pillars of Jamaat-e-Islami Kashmir, Sumar Geelani has also been a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.'' At the last moment, he was accompanied by his two sons, Dr. Naeem Geelani and Naseem Geelani, as well as his wife, Jawahira Begum.

Tell you that his eldest son-in-law Altaf Shah is lodged in Tihar jail for terror funding. Geelani, who played a key role in the formation of the Muslim United Front of Kashmir and the Hurriyat Conference, had also written a book on Allama Iqbal. Four books were written on subjects related to separatism and Islam.
