Hyderabad started the solid waste management system. With the launch of advanced compacters for collection and transportation, modernisation of transfer stations and establishment of 90 Mini Collection and Transport Points (CTP), a new chapter is being unveiled in the municipal solid waste management system in Hyderabad.

Open tracks are still being used to carry solid waste. But now, as planned, old open trucks carrying solid waste in a month will be off the road and by the new year, Swanki closed compact trucks are GHMC limits, municipal administration and urban development minister K T Rama Rao said here on Thursday. Decentralisation of transfer stations helps in more efficient collection and transportation of municipal waste. GHMC is setting up 90 mini collection and transfer points, of which 10 have already been set up. The collection and transport ation centers are being set up to collect waste from the Swachh Auto Tippers (SATs) colonies and dump the previous method of dumping waste at 17 transfer stations in the city at CTPs. He said the advanced compactors, which were launched on Wednesday, would collect waste from secondary collections and transport ation centers.

From this development, now, a compact truck will remove the waste collected by 30 swachh auto tippers per day. These vehicles are being introduced in the city following the orders of The Minister KT Rama Rao to remove open waste trucks that cause inconvenience to other road users. Mayor Bontu Rammohan and other officials participated in the inauguration.
