Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, who arrived in Goa, said fish and football are two things that connect Bengal and Goa and she said she will not allow the Centre to be "bullying" in the state. However, the West Bengal CM said that she has neither come to power in the state nor to become the CM of Goa. In her first address in Panaji, Mamata Banerjee said in Konkani, "Delhi's bullying will not work. I am not an outsider, I don't want to be the Chief Minister of Goa."

Further, Mamata Banerjee said, "I am an Indian, I can go anywhere. If Bengal is my motherland, Goa is also my motherland. I come to Goa, they spoil my posters. Their mindset is polluted. He told me black flags, I said hello.'' In Goa, several hoardings with photos of Mamata Banerjee were damaged before her visit, after which sharp allegations started between the BJP and the TMC.

Mamata Banerjee said, "We believe in democracy and Goa is beautiful. I am not here to take over power, I am here to help. You love fish, we love fish. You love football, Bengal likes football.'' Mamata Banerjee was accompanied by former Goa CM Falario, TMC MP Derek O'Brien and local leaders. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee arrived in Goa on a three-day visit aiming to strengthen the Trinamool Congress ahead of the state elections to be held early next year.
