Director Ankoosh Bhatt who is gearing up for the release of ‘3 Dev’ said that he doesn't think big studio backing has changed anything.

Ankoosh Bhatt was interacting with media to promote ‘3 Dev’ on Friday in Mumbai.

With increasing big studio's backing more films it is getting harder for a smaller budget film to reach the audience when asked to comment on the same, Ankoosh Bhatt said, "I don't think studio backing has changed anything. But with their jobs at stakes and increase in monetary risk people want to make safe films. It's not like only the big projects are always a hit or the small projects are always a flop. We have seen small budget films do great business like 'Newton' and 'Lipstick under my Burkha'. Their small investment and big returns make them a success whereas films with crores of investment have a lower percentage of returns.

When it comes to small producer back then I could make a film like ‘Bhindi Bazaar Inc.' now if I would have gone with the same script people wouldn't have agreed to work on it. Because there is a high risk of the film getting stuck with the censor board. The fear of losing money in a project makes you very insecure. Noone goes with the gut feeling anymore so I feel very lucky that someone trusted me and invested in our film '3 Dev'."

When asked Ankoosh whether film and cast of ‘3 Dev’ will be able to surprise the audience, he said, “I think surprise element starts with me because people were expecting a hardcore, intense drama from me like my earlier films ‘Bhindi Bazaar Inc.’ and ‘Mumbai Mirror’. I am trying to give something different to the audience. People have told me that they wouldn’t able to watch my last two films with their families. And I also realized that my films are not translating into box-office success because those films were meant for a limited audience. So, here also I am coming up with a hardcore subject based on god. And we are trying to present it in a very different manner which we will be enjoyed by entire family together.

As far as performance of actors is concerned, we are getting a really good response for the trailer and comedy which we have shown in the film so, people are really surprised with casting and overall film altogether”

‘3 Dev’ revolves around a cynical landlord played by Menon, who gets three tenants in the form of Karan Singh Grover, Kunaal Roy Kapur, and Ravi Dubey. The town people start to consider them to be gods following certain incidents, which leads to a series of hilarious consequences, which forms the plot of the film.

The movie also stars Raima Sen, Poonam Kaur, Tisca Chopra, Priya Banerjee and Bengali star Prosenjit Chatterjee. 3 Dev is directed by Ankush Bhatt. The movie is scheduled to release on June 1.
