The absence of Ambati Rayudu in the Indian team of the World Cup 2019 was surprising for everyone. Unhappy with this, Rayudu announced his retirement from international cricket. Where Team India's chief selector MSK Prasad has revealed the reason for Rayudu not being selected in the team in the last days of his tenure. MSK said that I also felt bad when the Indian team's middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu was out. In an interview to Sportstar, chairman of selectors' committee MSK Prasad said that Ambati Rayudu had done well in the year 2019, but he was dropped from the team before the World Cup. He said that the selection committee had also paid attention to the fitness of Ambati Rayudu. Rayudu's exit from the World Cup squad was indeed a very different issue.
According to reports, Prasad said that I felt very bad about Rayudu. This decision was very difficult. The selection committee has always felt that he is on the radar of the test selection after the 2016 Zimbabwe tour. MSK said that I had spoken to Rayudu that he should focus on Test cricket. We gave him a place in the One-Day team based on the performance of IPL. Which many people may not find appropriate, but it is true. He further said that after this we focused on his fitness at NCA for a month and helped him, but unfortunately he got out of the team. All-rounder Vijay Shankar was included in the team in place of Ambati Rayudu in the World Cup squad.
The selectors had said that Rayudu is as a reserve player, but he was not selected as a reserve player either. Angered by this, Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement. However, after a few days, he withdrew his retirement decision. A new selection committee will be appointed soon in the BCCI.
