Special Investigation Team investigating the Gauri Lankesh Murder case has said that accused Parashuram Waghmare has confessed to the murder of a woman journalist. The police had arrested Waghmare from Vijaypura district of North Karnataka in the beginning of this week. 26-year-old Parashuram has claimed that he had killed her.

According to the news published in The Times of India, SIT sources told Parshuram, "I was told in May 2017 to save religion, I have to kill someone and I agreed. I did not know whom to kill. Now I feel that I should not have killed that woman."   

Parashuram said that he was brought to Bangalore on September 3. He was trained operate an airgun. The accused reportedly said, "I was taken to a house earlier. Two hours later a bike rider took me to show the house where the person to be killed lives. The next day, bike rider took me to another room in Bangalore. Another person who was there, took me home at the RR town on the bike and dropped back. I was again taken to Gauri's house in the evening. I took the same bike and I was told that I have to finish the work that day because Gauri returned from work and was inside the house." 

He further said, "On September 5 at 4 pm I was given a gun and we went to his house in the evening. We arrived at the right time. Gauri stopped the car in front of the gate. When I approached her, she was opening the door from inside. I scratched her lightly so that she turned to me. I killed her four and we returned to the room and left the city the same night." AIT sources say that Waghmare in Bangalore is in touch with at least three people. However, he says that he does not know three of the criminals.
