New Delhi: Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari says that Congress needs to be strong for better democracy. During this, he also advised those who left the Congress to follow the ideology of the party. During this, Gadkari also spoke on the increasing participation of regional parties in politics.

In fact, recently the Congress has lost power in Punjab as well. The party could get only 18 seats out of 117 in the assembly elections 2020. According to media reports, during a program organized in Pune on Saturday, Gadkari said that due to the weakening of the Congress, regional parties have replaced it, which is not good for Indian democracy. Gadkari further said that he wants the Congress to become strong at the national level.

Right now, only Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have Congress government, rest are Congress allies in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Gadkari said, 'Democracy runs on two wheels- the ruling party and the opposition. A strong opposition is the need of democracy. That's why I wish that Congress should be strong. Also, due to the weakening of the Congress, regional parties have replaced it, which is not good for democracy.
