Addressing a rally in Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, Mr. Shah said, "Since the last three days, I have been seeing that Didi (Mamata Banerjee) has a problem when somebody says 'Jai Shri Ram', I want to ask Mamata Didi if not in India, will we take Shri Ram's name in Pakistan?... Nobody can stop us from saying 'Jai Shri Ram'."

“I will raise Jai Shri Ram slogan in Bengal. Do what you can,” Shah added.

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had dared Mamata Banerjee to arrest him accusing her of going after those chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram' out of frustration.

Earlier, a video circulated on social media, showed Mamata Banerjee stepping out of her vehicle and lashing out at a group of people for chanting "Jai Shri Ram", a chant frequently used by the leaders and workers of the BJP. Four persons were subsequently arrested from the area. Earlier speaking at Ghatal, Shah had raised the same issue, saying "Shree Ram is the idol of every Indian, he exists in the culture and ethos of India. No one can stop us from worshipping him."
