This story is of Soumya Sharma, who is going to be an Indian Administrative Service IAS officer today.

 

Soumya had given the Union Public Service Commission examination in 2017 for the first time. Then Soumya was 22 years old. Soumya says that she started preparing for UPSC exams in a proper manner on 19 February 2017. About four months before the UPSC preliminary examination. She was then studying her final semester of law at NLU. She also kept her optional subject like law. According to Soumya, 'I did not join any coaching for the preparation of UPSC exam. But yes, more and more enrollment was made in the Test series. It also helped a lot."

She passed the preliminary examination. But she had a fever for about a week before the main examination. Soumya says, 'My fever did not come down for the whole week. Even on the exam day, the temperature was 102. Sometimes it was reaching 103 degrees. I was going to drip saline three times a day. Even during the break during the exam, I used to drip."

Soumya says, 'I remember that during the GS-2 exam, there was darkness in front of my eyes. I immediately used to eat chocolate for energy and started writing answers. Soumya's hearing ability is also very weak. She cannot hear properly without the help of Hearing Aid. But, Soumya did not take advantage of this in the UPSC exam. He applied under the general category. In the first attempt, Soumya was successful in this examination. In the UPSC 2017 exam, Soumya has secured the ninth rank in the country. She was then 23 years old.
