Hyderabad: IAS officer P Venkatarami Reddy, who made headlines by touching the feet of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), has now resigned from his post. He is said to be planning to resign and enter full-time politics. Siddipet district collector P Venkatarami Reddy resigned from his post on Monday after taking voluntary retirement.
His resignation has also been accepted by the Telangana government. Within hours of his resignation, orders were issued by the government to release him from service. According to media reports, Venkatarami Reddy was selected for IAS under the State Civil Services (SCS) category. He was allotted the 2006 batch. The IAS officer had just left a job by the end of September next year. Reddy is a resident of Odella village in the Peddapalli district of Telangana.
According to the information received, former IAS officials may soon join the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) in the state. There are also speculations that TRS may make him an MLC. He was elected to the Group I Service of SCS in united Andhra Pradesh in 1991. Reddy then served as revenue divisional officer at Machilipatnam, Chittoor and Tirupati. Just a few days ago, he was also criticised for touching CM KCR's feet on the dais during an official function in Siddipet district. A few days later, he resigned.
