Encouraged by the significant contribution of its members, the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) has decided to provide financial assistance to 35 to 40 players in place of 25-30 cricketers already decided. ICA has so far deposited Rs 57 lakh for cricketers stranded in the midst of Covid-19 epidemic.

The ICA will prepare the final list of players who have received help on 22 May. It will include cricketers from the five regions (North, East, West, South and Central).  ICA source told PTI-language on Saturday, "So far, 57 lakh rupees (including 10 lakh rupees contribution of ICA) has been deposited." ICA can help more cricketers than before. This body will continue to accept more donations till 22 May. After this, the final list will be prepared.

In this, help will be offered to those cricketers who do not have jobs. Those who do not get pension from BCCI or their respective state associations. Legendary players like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev have also contributed financially for this. 1750 former cricketers are registered with the ICA which came into existence last year. An initial grant of Rs 2 crore was received from the BCCI in February for its operation.
