Dubai: Team India captain Virat Kohli has retained his second position in the ICC Test batsmen rankings, while acting captain Ajinkya Rahane jumped five places to reach the top ten. He scored 112 and an unbeaten 27 in the second Test against Australia in Melbourne, helping India win by eight wickets. He reached number five in the rankings in October last year.

Meanwhile, spinner R Ashwin has moved up two places to number seven, while fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has moved up to ninth place. Ravindra Jadeja, who took three wickets with 57 runs in the second Test, remains at number three in the list of all-rounders. He is seven points behind Jason Holder. Jadeja has reached 36th position in batting and 14th in bowling.

Shubman Gill, who made his Test debut in MCG, is 76th and Mohammad Siraj 77th. Cheteshwar Pujara has dropped two places to 10th position. Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc reached the fifth position. Batsman Matthew Wade has reached the top 50. New Zealand captain Ken Williamson defeated Australia's Steve Smith to take first place in the batting. Smith slipped to the third position.
