New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday released the latest Test rankings for cricketers. Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne has jumped one notch to the top. This kangaroo batsman has topped the rankings for the first time. England captain Joe Root and Team India captain Virat Kohli have suffered.
Joe Root has slipped to number two. Virat Kohli has also come down one notch and is currently ranked 7th. The top-10 batsmen have been reshuffled between these three batsmen. Everything else is in place. Rohit Sharma retains the 5th spot. Labuschagne recently scored his first century in the Ashes, which has benefited him. Labushen scored 103 and 51 in the Adelaide Day-Night Test. Labuschagne has become the 9th Australian player to score more than 900 points in the batsmen's rankings. With this, he has joined the club of Sir Don Bradman, Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden and Steve Smith.
Australia pacer Mitchell Starc has taken a quantum leap among the bowlers. He has come into the top-10 with a profit of 4 ranks. Starc has moved up to 9th position. Meanwhile, compatriot Josh Hazlewood slipped one place to 5th. There is only one Indian in the top-10. It is spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who is frozen at number two.
