ICC releases of 12th Women's World Cup 2021 schedule

LONDON: The international cricket council's (ICC) 12th Women's World Cup 2021 schedule was released on Tuesday. The tournament will be held in New Zealand from January 30 to February 20. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said on Tuesday that 31 matches will be played within 21 days. The final will be played on the 20th of February month.

This will be the fourth 50 overs ICC tournament in New Zealand. New Zealand has twice hosted the Men's World Cup in 1992 and 2015 and once the Women's world cup in 2000. A total of seven teams will participate in the Women's World Cup. The top-4 teams of the ICC Women's Championship will get direct entry.

At the same time, the top four teams in the championship points table are Australia (22 points), defending champions England (22), India (16) and South Africa (16). The other three teams will get a second chance through qualifiers. Besides Bangladesh and Ireland, regional qualifier teams from Africa, USA, Asia, East Asia Pacific and Europe will also participate in the qualifiers.
