New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the match officials for the T20 World Cup 2022 to be held in Australia. A total of 20 officials, including match referees and umpires, have been selected, including 16 umpires and 4 match referees. The umpires also include the name of an Indian. Nitin Menon is the only umpire from India to be included in the ICC's Elite Panel, Menon has also reached Australia.
Let us know that the ICC has announced 20 match officials for the first round of the tournament and the Super 12 phase. The ICC said in its press release that, 'In total, 16 umpires will officiate in the tournament, who were the umpires for the 2021 final match, including Richard Kettleborough, Nitin Menon, Kumara Dharmasena and Marais Erasmus. ICC Elite Panel's match referee Ranjan Madugalle, part of a quartet of former international cricketers, will be the match referee for the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup. Sri Lankan Madugalle along with Andrew Pycroft of Zimbabwe, Christopher Broad of England and David Boon of Australia have been named match referees for this mega event.'
Pycroft will be the referee for the tournament opener in Geelong on October 16, when Sri Lanka takes on Namibia in the first round, with Joel Wilson and Rod Tucker as field umpires. Paul Reiffel will be seen as the fourth umpire and will be seen as the TV umpire along with Erasmus. Erasmus, Tucker and Aleem Dar are all set to serve in their seventh ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
