According to a release issued by the same ICC, the team that won the tournament will receive $1.6 million (about Rs 12 crore) and the runners-up team will receive $8 lakh (about Rs 6 crore). The semi-finalists of the T20 World Cup will get prize money of about Rs 3 crore. In addition, ICC will also continue to give bonuses to the teams if they win each match in the Super 12 stage.
With this, Oman will take on Papua New Guinea in the first match of the tournament starting October 17 while the final will be played at Dubai International cricket stadium on November 14. India, the hosts of the tournament, will play their first match of the World Cup against Pakistan on October 24. The Indian team will then take on New Zealand on October 31 and then Afghanistan on November 3. A total of 16 teams are participating in the World Cup this time and Team India has been placed in Group-II.
