Lucknow: Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Tuesday said the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) will go to the Supreme Court on the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case in which eight people, including four farmers, were killed. Union Minister Ajay Mishra 'Teni's' son Ashish Mishra is the main accused in the case and was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court on February 10.
Ashish Mishra is expected to come out of jail by 5 pm on Tuesday. On this, Tikait has warned that if Ashish is thrown out of jail, we will sit on a dharna outside the jail. Rakesh Tikait, who was a prominent face of the farmers' agitation, also attacked the BJP amid the ongoing assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. He said the infamous Lakhimpur Kheri case was witnessed by the entire country and the world. Even after committing this heinous crime, Ashish Mishra gets bail within three months. Tikait told the press that everyone is watching it.
Tikait further said that so is there a need for such a dictatorial government, or is there a need for a system in which a person who crushes people under a vehicle gets out of jail within three months? How will they treat the people in the near future? These are our issues and people need to understand. '
