Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former CM Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said that if voted to power, the poor will be given one kg of 'ghee' along with a free ration for five years. Akhilesh further said that the BJP government is going to stop its free ration scheme. The SP president said that those poor who are taking advantage of free ration will get it till the elections. It won't be found after the election. Earlier it was supposed to be given by November, but when the UP elections were announced, they said they will give it by March."

Addressing an election rally in Rae Bareli, Akhilesh said the amount for ration has not been earmarked in the Delhi budget as he knows that the elections will end in March. He said that socialists had given ration earlier also. As long as the SP has a government, we will give free ration to our poor again. Along with this, we will give mustard oil as well as two cylinders in a year. Along with this, one kg of ghee will also be provided to improve the health of our poor.'

The SP president further said that the quality of ration being distributed by the BJP government was poor and there were also reports of glass particles being found in the salt. To this, he asked whether salt is not coming from Gujarat.
