The Delhi administration issued a warning to owners of outdated vehicles on Saturday, urging them not to violate Supreme Court directives by operating them on the city's roadways. According to the Delhi administration, if such outdated vehicles are discovered on the road, they will be impounded right away and demolished as well.

This is in accordance with the Supreme Court's 2018 ruling that driving diesel or gasoline vehicles that are more than ten or fifteen years old in the national capital is prohibited. Additionally, the injunction stipulated that any automobiles that disobeyed it would be seized. "Now, it has come to notice that in spite of these orders, such vehicles are still found plying and parked on the roads of Delhi. The Enforcement wing of the transport department has been undertaking robust enforcement drive for impounding of such vehicles if found plying or parked on Delhi roads," a statement issued by the transport department read.

The Delhi government further stated in its official statement that after being impounded, the 15-year-old automobiles would be immediately turned over to an authorised scrapper for destruction. Additionally, the authorities warned citizens not to drive, maintain, or park such cars in any public area. "In case one has any such vehicle, they are directed to get it scrapped immediately from the authorised scrapper of the transport department," the statement added further.

The agency additionally asked market organisations and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to notify them of any such vehicles they discovered on their WhatsApp number. This action is a part of the Delhi government's initiative to reduce the national capital's pollution threat, which has long been a top priority for the city's officials.
