If you don't log in at least once a month, you risk losing your Twitter Account: Accounts of users who do not log in at least once every 30 days may be at risk, as per Twitter's dormant account policy.

"When registering for an account, we want users to actively log in and utilise Twitter. Make sure to log in at least once every 30 days to maintain the status of your account. Due to lengthy inactivity, accounts may be permanently deleted, according to a statement on Twitter's Help Centre page.

The page states that logging in will be used to determine activity status rather than acts like posting or engaging with other tweets.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, allegedly threatened to remove the NPR news organization's handle after the publication announced last month that it was leaving Twitter. However, according to Twitter's Help Centre, dormant usernames were not being made public.

Twitter started offering encrypted direct messages (DMs) to verified users this week, making it a paid perk for the majority. However, there are a number of technical issues that prevent it from being completely secure for users.

Twitter's dormant account policy refers to the rules that Twitter has established regarding inactive or dormant accounts. According to the policy, Twitter may remove accounts that have been inactive for a certain period of time, usually six months or more. The purpose of this policy is to free up usernames that may be wanted by other users and to ensure that the platform is not cluttered with unused accounts.

However, Twitter had earlier stated that they will not remove accounts of deceased individuals, and that they will work with family members or other authorized individuals to either memorialize the account or deactivate it upon request.

Additionally, Twitter had also stated that they may not immediately make a username available after an account has been removed due to inactivity, as they may hold the username for a certain period of time in case the original owner decides to reactivate their account.
