IIM Kolkata celebrated its 59th Foundation Day on Thursday, 14 November 2019. On this occasion, the Governor of West Bengal Jaideep Dhankhar attended the function as the chief guest. At the ceremony, IIM Kolkata honored its seven alumni for their contribution in various fields.

According to the information received, IIM Kolkata Director Professor Anju Seth told during his address that the students of 1992 batch have supported Rs 3 crore for the expansion and continuous improvement of the institute. It is the biggest gift given till date by alumni. On the occasion, Shekhar Ganapathi, the former president of the 7th batch of the same institution, said that we have got a lot from IIM Kolkata, now we wanted to do something for the institute. We are very happy. We are proud that this is our institution. We did this because our institution continues to influence students and society in the same way in the future. These cooperation will be set benchmark for other batch students also.

According to the information received, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar while addressing the students on the occasion of Foundation Day said that the future leaders and changemakers of India are sitting here. I want to tell them to always work towards creating a prosperous India, not just in the race to make money. I have learned from my experience that true happiness lies in giving back to society and connecting with the people around. The country has high hopes from you. I am confident that you will make us proud.
