In response to a question, the Captain admitted that illegal sales of liquor on such a large scale and smuggling from other states would not be possible without the connivance of some insiders. The Chief Minister said that a thorough investigation will be done on behalf of the Special Investigation Team to ascertain all the facts including the collusion of the officials of the Excise Department. All the persons involved in this illegal business, including the main culprits, will be identified and arrested.

When asked about the possible complicity of government employees in the seed scam, the Chief Minister said that the matter was investigated in detail by a special investigation team led by an ADGP level officer and a joint director of the Agriculture Department. He said that PAU (Punjab Agricultural University) had prepared about 3000 quintals PR 128 and 129 varieties of paddy seeds for testing. 30,000 quintals of seeds were sold to farmers in the open market on behalf of some dealers. This gives a clear indication that fake seeds were also added to these new varieties to rob the farmers. The special investigation team will go to the bottom of this scam.
