Imam Umar Ahmad Ilyasi has given a statement in the country amidst the protest against the CAA and NRC. Imam Umar Ahmad Ilyasi said, 'I would like to appeal to all the citizens of this country to maintain peace, to protest is our democratic right and we should protest but peacefully. Also, a delegation of 50 members including the Imam will meet PM Modi and Amit Shah.

According to media reports, after the violent protests on December 19 and 20 in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), strict instructions have been given to take extra vigil in Uttar Pradesh once again on the possibility of a ruckus. Police is on alert. Mobile internet is closed in 21 districts of the state. Apart from this, there is a high alert in many areas of Delhi. Police is also monitoring the situation with a drone. Also on the other hand, a Norwegian tourist participating in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Kochi has been asked to leave the country by the Regional Registration Office of Foreigners for visa violations. Security has been tightened in Seelampur, Delhi, drones are being monitored for safety. The administration is on alert in view of Friday prayers.
