New Delhi: An alert has been sounded for 'Cyclone Tauktae' in Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka. Heavy rain has already started in many areas due to 'Cyclone Tauktae'. Moreover, in many areas, there has also been a mild thunderstorm. In a tweet on the 'Tauktae' cyclone, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi appealed to Congress workers to help the needy.

Rahul Gandhi wrote in a tweet, "An alert of 'Tauktae' has been issued in Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka. Cyclone 'Tauktae' is causing heavy rain in many areas. I appeal to congress workers to provide all possible help to the needy'. At the same time, the Congress leader has asked people to be safe. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday that the pressure zone in the Arabian Sea is also projected to turn May 17 into a "severe cyclonic storm" and cross the Gujarat coast a day later. The weather conditions have turned into a deep erased area and are likely to turn into cyclonic storm 'Tauktae' by Saturday morning. It is then feared to have turned into a severe cyclonic storm by Saturday night.

the cyclone warning division of IMD has said that between May 16-19 it is likely to turn into an 'extremely severe cyclonic storm' with winds of 150-160 kmph. The wind speed can also be 175 kmph intermittently. The Met department has alerted western coastal states.
