NEW DELHI: INDIA WEATHER FORCAST BY IMD - Between March 16 and March 19, many Indian states are expected to see mild to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, as per forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Also, it has projected a few isolated hailstorms over various states.
Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka are among the states where rain is expected between March 16 and 19.
Between March 17 and March 19, rains, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are also expected in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, the Indian Meteorological Department said.
On March 16 and 17, the IMD has also forecast a solitary hailstorm for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. While sporadic hailstorm activity has been forecast for Uttarakhand from March 15 to 19, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, and North Rajasthan are all expected to experience it on March 17.
Throughout North-West India, East India, and Central and West India, the temperature is expected to decrease by 2-4 degrees Celsius during the next three days, according to weather predictions.
Beginning on March 16, due to low level southeasterly moist air intrusion from the Bay of Bengal into east central and northeast India and its interaction with the intermediate tropospheric westerly trough.
March 16 to 18: Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds (speed 30–40 kmph) are likely over interior Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand; over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh.
