NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next five days in multiple states, including Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, and others. In their latest bulletin, the weather office stated, "Anticipate a fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall in South Peninsular India starting from July 2nd, 2023. A cyclonic circulation is situated over the central parts of south Uttar Pradesh and its neighboring regions at lower and middle atmospheric levels."

Himachal Pradesh is currently experiencing incessant rains, leading to a flood-like situation. The heavy downpour has severely disrupted the normal lives of people in the region.

On Saturday, Mumbai witnessed heavy rainfall, resulting in the unfortunate loss of two lives. These fatalities occurred in the Govandi area of Mumbai during the afternoon, and the bodies were retrieved by fire brigade and police personnel.

Here are the rainfall predictions for different regions:

Northwest India: Expect light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over the region in the next two days. Isolated heavy rainfall is highly likely in Uttarakhand on June 30th, July 3rd, and July 4th. Additionally, West Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh may experience heavy rainfall on June 30th, while East Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan on June 30th and July 1st.

Central India: Prepare for light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy falls expected over Madhya Pradesh in the next two days.

West India: Anticipate light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Konkan & Goa and the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the next five days. Gujarat State may also experience this heavy rainfall pattern in the next two days.

East and adjoining Northeast India: Expect fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Assam & Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh during the next five days. Gangetic West Bengal may also experience isolated heavy rainfall on June 30th and July 3rd, while Jharkhand on July 3rd, and Odisha on July 3rd and July 4th.

South India: Prepare for light to moderate scattered to widespread rainfall over Kerala & Mahe, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka during the next five days. Coastal Karnataka & Kerala may experience isolated heavy rainfall during this period, while South Interior Karnataka & Tamil Nadu can expect it from July 2nd to July 4th. Additionally, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Rayalaseema may witness heavy rainfall on July 3rd and July 4th.

South India: Prepare for light to moderate scattered to widespread rainfall over Kerala & Mahe, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka during the next five days. Coastal Karnataka & Kerala may experience isolated heavy rainfall during this period, while South Interior Karnataka & Tamil Nadu can expect it from July 2nd to July 4th. Additionally, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Rayalaseema may witness heavy rainfall on July 3rd and July 4th, while Telangana should brace for it on July 4th. Isolated instances of very heavy rainfall are also likely over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu on July 3rd and July 4th.
