Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh): On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several key development projects in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, aimed at boosting the region's infrastructure and economic growth.
One of the major highlights of the event was the foundation stone laying for the Ken-Betwa River linking project, India's first national interlinking of rivers initiative. This ambitious initiative is designed to bring substantial irrigation benefits to multiple districts across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, significantly improving the livelihoods of thousands of farming families who depend on agriculture. By addressing water scarcity, it aims to bolster agricultural productivity and economic stability in these regions. PM Modi emphasized its significance, noting that it will transform the agricultural landscape of the region.
During his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, emphasizing, "The Yadav government, within just one year, has ushered in a new era of progress and development, setting benchmarks for transformative governance.. Today, we have started multiple major projects, including the Ken-Betwa river project, which I believe will bring immense benefits to the people of Madhya Pradesh."
\Marking the centenary celebration of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth, PM Modi also unveiled a specially designed commemorative stamp and coin as a tribute to his enduring legacy and contributions to the nation. He further laid the foundation for the construction of 1,153 Atal Gram Sushasan buildings, designed to strengthen the governance and functioning of local Gram Panchayats, enhancing efficiency at the grassroots level.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project located in Khandwa district. This project is part of India's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and achieving the goal of net-zero emissions by 2070. The solar plant will also play a crucial role in conserving water by reducing evaporation.
These initiatives underscore the government's commitment to sustainable development and improving the lives of people in Madhya Pradesh and beyond.
